With 102 days left to the general election, the National Super Alliance (NASA) has finally released a lineup expected to lead Kenya for the next 5 years.

The five co-principals; Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper Democratic Movement), Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress), Moses Wetangula (FORD-Kenya) and Isaac Rutto (Chama Cha Mashinani) came together at Uhuru Park in an event attended by a mammoth crowd to unveil the much awaited candidate.

Line Up

Musalia Mudavadi announced ODM leader Raila Odinga as the NASA presidential candidate with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka named as his running mate in the race to State House. ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi was named the Premier Cabinet Secretary to be in charge of Government coordination.

FORD Kenya Party leader, the incumbent Baringo Senator Moses Wetangula was given the baton to be the Deputy Premier CS in charge of the economic sector coordination if NASA claims victory come August 8th.  CCM’s Isaac Ruto will be the Deputy Premier CS responsible for governance and social services sector coordination.

The NASA coalition is expected to oust the Jubilee government led by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto from power.

How NASA was formed

“We have come together as political parties, civil societies, religious groups, student/youth and women organisations, trade unions and business communities under the NASA umbrella to take back Kenya.  When I formed NASA, I never had me in mind, I had we in mind. I had you and us in mind. The NASA I have in mind is one that will nab mediocrity, dishonesty and arrest thieves of public resources.” Musalia Mudavadi revealed.

Taking Jubilee home

“We will not allow the rich to keep on denying the poor what they deserve. We are here to tell you (Jubilee) the ‘meat you are eating’ will be taken away from you in August. Everyone must live with dignity as the constitution approves.” Isaac Ruto said.

The Chama Cha Mashinani leader regretted on voting for the Jubilee government in 2013.

“The Jubilee government has stolen everything from us Kenyans, we have nothing left. The writing is on the wall. You have a few days, start packing for home. We are Kenyans and tribalism will no longer be allowed.” He added.

NASA Co-principal Moses Wetangula urged Kenyans to walk with the liberation of the coalition. He affirmed that they are ready to take Jubilee home. He further urged those who had lost in the primaries to remain in NASA and form a strong coalition.

Transitional and transformative government

“Our country is engulfed with problems, we have security, water, education and health problems. We are not relating well with our neighbours.” Wetangula said.

“Jubilee has been lying of development and economic growth which is not happening.  Each one of us must be part of the exciting big family of NASA that is going to change the destiny of Kenya.” he added.

Speaking after he was named the flagbearer, Raila Odinga claimed that history had repeated itself following the events of October 2002 at the same venue where he, Moody Awori, Simon Nyachae, Kijana Wamalwa, Kalonzo Musyoka, George Saitoti, Charity Ngilu and Kipruto Kirwa in togetherness for Kibaki.

“All the four NASA principals have agreed, RAILA TOSHA, this shows the great respect my brothers have for me. The NASA coalition will form a transitional and transformative government to clean up the whole Jubilee mess.” Raila stated.

“I and the pentagon will change Kenya to realize the Kenyan dream that our founding fathers had, we shall fight poverty, create employments, reduce basic commodities prices, provide affordable health and education services, improve salary structures and deal with corruption for an ever growing economy.” He added.

Musalia Mudavadi read what the plan for Kenya agreed upon by the NASA principals entailed. The coalition expects to put Kenya back on the roots to prosperity, ensure that hunger and disease is no longer an epidemic. The coalition agreed upon creating an attractive investment environment that will lead to job creation for the youths, modernize the education system, invest in research and technology to create wealth.
